Foot Essays

While AE Foot was Head Master at Doon he authored a remarkable series of essays, in the School Magazine, on what was expected of a boy at 'School' as he grew up. Beginning in 1938, with the essays titled "Fourteen" he articulated a vision that has been the cornerstone of upon which the education of a student in The Doon School has rested and from there evolved. This initial essay was followed two years later, in 1940, for a boy at "Sixteen", next essay titled "Seventeen" was published in 1941 and "Eighteen", the final essay, appeared in the School Magazine in 1942.
