BURSARIES

Our founding fathers envisioned The Doon School as a pan-India school and at the same time have boys in School that came from families from all walks of life. However, with the passage of time, School’s fees have increased to an extent where salaried Doscos find it difficult to conceive of putting their children into ‘School’. This is particularly true for young Doscos serving in the Armed Forces, the public sector, the teaching profession or other salaried jobs. It was to reassure Doscos that some funds will be available from the DSOBS towards meeting their child’s education at Doon that the DSOBS Bursary Fund was set up.

Bursaries are corpuses created for academic scholarships and mandated by the creators of the bursary. An individual or group towards fulfilling a specific philanthropic purpose may start a bursary or add to the DSOBS bursary.

At present the following bursaries exist:

Kashmir House Old Boys' Bursary
50 lacs
To celebrate the 75th year of Kashmir House, the Alumni of Kashmir House have put together a bursary. In the spirit of giving back to the House and its extended fraternity the bursary is mandated to subsidise the fees and expenses of children of Kashmir House Old Boys that require financial support. The Kashmir House Bursary Fund will be overseen by a committee of five senior Kashmir House old boys and is mandated to utilise only a part of the interest generated from the Kashmir House Bursary Fund. Of the total interest generated each year, 25% will be ploughed back into the corpus, the balance 75% will be available with DSOBS to disburse to children of former Kashmir House boys. In case, in the list annually furnished by School, there is/are one or more son(s) of Kashmir House old boy(s), his or their bursary requirements will be met from the Kashmir House Bursary Fund. If none of the boys recommended for bursary are sons of Kashmir House old boys, then the Committee will decide from amongst the Kashmir House old boys, that have applied to the DSOBS for a Bursary, as to whose children should be awarded the bursary. In case there are no valid bursary requests the amount will be added to the Kashmir House Bursary Corpus.
