Old Boys in the News * Our heartiest congratulations to Sumit Bose [364 J '70] on being appointed the new Finance Secretary. He is from the 1976 batch of the Indian Administrative Service and the senior most officer in the Finance Ministry. He was earlier the Revenue Secretary. * Hearty congratulations to Sanjeev Kassal (295 T '74) for winning the singles title at the International Tennis Federation Seniors (Above 55 yrs) Tournament held at New Delhi. This is his 6th ITF title and he has now won International and National titles in the above 45, 50 & 55 age groups. * 'Courage and Conviction', an autobiography by General V. K. Singh with Shiv Kunal Verma [182 HB '76] was released in September 20l3. From his run-ins with authority in school or later defending his actions when they led to a difference of opinion with politicians, this book chronicles the General's journey in times of peace and turmoil. * Heartiest congratulations to Samarjit Sinh Gaekwad [380 JA '86] on winning the Presidential Elections of the Baroda Cricket Association. He defeated Mr Jaitly who had been the President for 26 years. * DPS Kindergarten School, Whitefield, Bangalore, designed by Sandeep Khosla's [489 JB '87] 'Khosla Associates' was adjudged the winner of the Inside Awards Education Category at the World Architecture Festival and World Festival ofInteriors held at Singapore in Oct 'l3. They won against stiff competition from the Netherlands and Australia. Khosla Oil Rose Bowl January 2014 Associates used a modular concrete framework, bold colours and perforated terracotta screens to create this climate-sensitive kindergarten in Bangalore. Old Boys' News * Harsh Gupta (453 HB '87) with 37 points triumphed to secure his spot in the DLF Gurgaon team that will represent the city in the Louis Philippe Cup. The Gurgaon team will be captained by the star golfer Jyoti Randhawa. Our congratulations. * Disher (Lollipop)Singh Virk [140 K '59] auctioned around 80 water colours made by the late Mr J A K Martyn, which were all bought by a benevolent Old Boy and presented to the School, all proceeds from the sale going towards the benefit of the John Martyn Memorial School for underprivileged children (L to R) Dilsher (Lollypop) Virk [140 K '60j, Brahm Maira [239 J '04j, Yashdev Inder Singh (Middle Woody) [123 T '65j, Wajahat Habibullah [266 H '61j, Saif-ul-waris Habibullah [364 HB '92j, Nitan Kapoor [151 J '66j, Saranbir Singh [299 JB '02j in front of Mr Martyn's paintings at 'Synergy', an exhibition of art works by international artists, curated by Nitan's daughter Roohi Kapoor. Brahm Maira's works were also exhibited there.
